Care & Cleaning Guidelines

Congratulations! You've finally gotten your cabinetry or built-ins installed, and they look great! When it's time to dust and clean them, are you aware of which products are safe, and which products you should avoid?

A Google search leads you to thousands of results; many of the top results giving you incorrect ways to clean your custom cabinetry. The main problem? These websites are trying to sell you something, have outdated information, and none of them have any idea of your cabinetry finish or material.

Consistent feedback we hear from past and repeat clients: our finish process is excellent. With two coats of primer/stain, 2 coats of lacquer, and sanded between each coat, you know you're receiving a great product. Your end result is a durable custom project that should be treated like the fine furniture it is.

Caring for your New Cabinetry

Use a soft cotton cloth, dampened with warm water, is usually sufficient to clean your cabinetry. If a more thorough cleaning is required, use one of the following cleaning solutions:

  • A fresh solution of dishwashing liquid mixed with warm water.

  • A mild all-purpose cleaner. Ensure it does not contain ammonia or silicone.

  • Clean splatters & spills immediately. Prolonged exposure to spills can cause permanent discoloration or damage to your cabinetry’s finish.

  • Use the mildest cleaning solution that will successfully clean your cabinetry.

  • Stronger products may damage or discolor your finish and are not recommended.

  • Clean hardware with warm water and a small amount of mild dish detergent. Immediately dry with a clean, soft cloth.

Cleaning Products to Avoid

  • Solvent-based or petroleum-based products, such as mineral spirits, nail polish removers, or paint thinners.

  • Harsh chemicals; tub and sink cleaners, scouring powder, scouring pads (including magic erasers.)

  • Ammonia or cleaning products that contain bleach.

  • Silicone-based cleaning, waxing, or polishing products.
